What are dentures?

Dentures are removable artificial teeth that replace some or all of your missing natural teeth. Doing so creates a beautiful smile and helps you gain confidence. You might be a good candidate for dentures if you have multiple missing teeth or have loose or severely decaying teeth that require extraction. Full dentures replace all missing teeth, and partial dentures replace just some natural teeth.

What are the benefits of dentures?

If you have missing teeth, dentures from Strauss Dental can offer numerous benefits including:

  • A more aesthetically pleasing smile
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Clearer speech
  • Easier chewing
  • Less adjacent teeth shifting

Dentures can also improve the shape or your face by restoring facial symmetry. They look and feel just like natural teeth, so most people won’t know you’re wearing dentures.

Am I a good candidate for dentures?

When you arrive at Strauss Dental for your appointment, you’re greeted by warm, welcoming staff. Your dental provider examines your teeth and gums and uses X-rays to let you know if you’re a good candidate for full or partial dentures. You may require extraction prior to receiving dentures if you have severely damaged teeth.

What happens during my appointment?

Getting dentures is a multiple-step process. Your Strauss Dental provider takes digital scans of your teeth to create custom dentures that fit perfectly in your mouth. At a subsequent appointment, they ensure the dentures fit properly. If they do, you can begin wearing your dentures throughout the day — even when you eat.

How should I care for my new dentures?

Practice good oral hygiene habits when you have dentures. Take them out to brush your tongue, roof of your mouth, and gums using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Brush dentures too, to prevent plaque buildup and staining.

When you’re not wearing dentures at night, soak them in a special dentures solution. See your dentist regularly and call Stauss Dental if dentures become loose or damaged.

Don’t let missing teeth negatively affect your quality of life when dentures are a simple solution for restoring your beautiful smile. Schedule an appointment with Strauss Dental over the phone or online today.
